Mount Spokane South - Youth Cow

  My son drew a Youth cow tag - we’ve got the maps, getting the Inland Empire pass, done some research by talking with previous tag holders...but with his football practice and games, work travel, family, other hunts - we unfortunately haven’t had an opportunity to hunt. 

We are heading up this weekend but I hear that Cow’s are pretty scarce in the North unit.  Not sure what’s going on in the South unit?

Don’t normally ask for help, but does anyone have any current intel on cow moose in Mount Spokane South...abundant, scarce?  Getting down to the wire!

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I️ have the south tag as well. Went October 1-5 and only saw bulls. Gonna head out after thanksgiving to see if I️ can connect this time. Hopefully they will be moving more than earlier this year. Goodluck to your boy! Hope you guys can find one!

Son got one a few years ago. We went past newman lake and headed as close to spokane park border as possible.  Saw one cow with a bull first morning.  Hope you get as lucky !

Hunted above Newman lake this weekend.  Covered a lot of ground and talked to a lot of deer hunters...no moose sightings.  Will probably try a new area this weekend.  Good luck ASienkiewich, hope you fill your tag.

Brickel creek just east of the ski resort. Lots of moose in there, we guided a youth hunter onto a cow in there couple years back.

 :yeah: I second Brickel Creek, head back west into WA and wind your way as high as possible to the North and East of the Ski area.  Should be some moose around up there.

You will have to go in from Twin Lakes as the Mt Spokane access is/was closed.

Don’t overlook Thompson Creek and the IEP access off of Foothills Road.

Appreciate the help.  We hunted up Thompson creek last weekend...no moose sightings and the sign just wasn’t there.

I saw a big cow moose last Friday while hunting on IEP. I just looked at the unit and looks like it was in the area that you hold your tag for. Just off of East Blanchard road.
