Black "Fishing" Friday
« on: November 17, 2017, 02:20:14 PM »
Just got an email from WDFW.  Go fishing, not shopping on Black Friday.  Looks like they'll be stocking some lakes if anybody is interested in catching some hatchery fishies.

"Skip the shopping and fish Black Friday!

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is stocking lakes with tens of thousands of trout just in time for Nov. 24th.  The “holiday specials” include thousands of large trout averaging 15 to 16 inches in length and weighing up to three pounds.

Choose tight lines over long lines on the day after Thanksgiving and start a new family fishing tradition!

Visit our website to find:
•Fall stocking information and lakes
•Weekly catchable trout plant reports
•Basic trout fishing techniques

The lakes below will be stocked for Black Friday Fishing:  Battleground Lake, Klineline Lake, Kress Lake, Beaver Lake, Rowland Lake, Fort Borst Park Pond, South Lewis Country Park Pond, American Lake, Tanwax Lake, Black Lake, Long Lake, Offutt Lake, Elton Pont (North)."

Tried Kress out this morning.  Got to the lake before daylight to get a parking spot.  Caught the last fish of my limit as the sun came over the horizon.  Switched to a single barbless hook and lost a limit, released a limit and some.  Weather was great and water was calm.  Nice size fish.  Hope they eat as good as they fought.  No power bait was used or harmed.  My shoulder is a little sore from casting.  Was a good solitary morning.

I was planning on going today, but they did not plant on the day of the schedule. I also found out that they planted in an area that you cant fish from the docks? What gives?  I'm a bank fisher person, I will use docks when I can, where planted it says no fishing from the pier and no parking for anyone without a boat. I usually take 1 or 2 handicap folks with me.

Funny :dunno:  Klineline is one of 2 lakes planted in Clark Co.  No boats allowed.  I had another good day today.  Pays to be 1st on the water.

Just carried Black Friday fishing into Cyber Monday.  Four days and four limits.  Might go for five.  Who needs shopping.

Unlike Montana, the WA lowland lakes experience little to no natural trout reproduction; thus, the "put and take" stocking.

It looks like Offutt Lake has no naturally spawning trout. that would make the colored up one most likely a brooder plant?

Or a holdover from a prior year's plant.
