Well first time in 4 years that I am eating tag soup for every category. 1 Non resident elk tag, 1 non resident bear tag, and all my Washington tags. Super slow year for the fiancé and I. Good thing I shot all the grouse I could.

Tag soup for Montana archery Antelope, just a hard animal to kill with a bow. For Washington modern Elk and Cougar, put lots of time in and now I'm on a 5 year Elk slump. Saw one Cougar with no shot opportunity. But I'm Eating Blacktail deer and Black Bear this year.

I got married.... in October

I've already heard it all from every hunter I know about what a stupid time of year to get married. My wife said she doesn't care about the anniversaries, so it shouldn't disrupt my future seasons but this year was a mess. I'm going to go out for late muzzleloader but I'm not holding out much hope for this year
damn man not only did you step in a conniber but you stuck your hand in a MB750 , sorry man but you got trapped , snared and hook line and sinkered  all in one fell swoop!! Sorry kid , you can hunt in a few years, we all know this cause we fell for it at one point as well  :chuckle: Well, you're double screwed. Married in October, congrats, but at the same time, I'm sad for you!! Now here's the deal, I don't know much, but after being married for 20 years, if a woman says she don't care, that's secret code for she does care!!

Nothing for me this year.
I let my 12 year old son take the shot which, in reality, was much more satisfying than killing a buck myself.  I'd pass up a lifetime of killing bucks to be there with him when he does it.

Tag soup on the buck for me. Hunted mule deer the 2nd weekend it was open, saw one legal buck but he was on the wrong side of the fence. Buddy had one stolen from him as well.

Hunted blacktail last Friday, didn't expect much as I was going in 100% blind. Saw lots of sign, so that was good, and even saw a doe and a fawn. I'd say it was a "successful" attempt at blacktail.

Story????

So true. Anniversaries won’t matter until next year 😧

Story????

I can't say 100% it was stolen, but it was 95%.

Basically, he shot (farther than I like) about 400yds, confirmed hit with the spotting scope at the same time. Deer ran, started heading up hill, was running out of gas ready to tip and another hunter who didn't see him run in front of him the first time, saw him the second time at 25yds and took the shot to finish him. My buddy watched the deer run in front of the guy who tagged it, and then go back once the buck knew he couldn't make the hill. My buddy could have put the kill shot on at 100yds but wasn't a safe shot with another hunter behind the buck. When confronted the other hunter and his partner denied any shots other than his own were in the deer. An unfortunate series of events, but also one that you learn from and hopefully decide to practice a bit more at that distance if you're willing to take the shot.

Nice muley spotted.
He's walking at about 125 yds.
I stabilize for the shot on a small tree.
He stops.
All but his rump is obscured by a small group of trees that are at about 75 yards.
I wait. My arms are getting tired but I don't dare move for fear of making noise or being spotted.
Finally he moves but up the rock slope and out of my view forever.
I had his butt in the cross hairs for so long...
I'm going to the same spot next year as I saw a different bigger deer with a smaller rack not 100 yards from the same spot.
