MT CWD Hunt Discussion
« on: December 11, 2017, 10:03:33 AM »
Here we go, this is the place if you want to talk about the hunt or share info.  I have three tags total for my party of 2, one either sex but I'm going to shoot the first legal animal I can get in my scope.  Thus, I'm more than willing to share any info I have.

I have a reservation in Red Lodge and Joliet and haven't decided where to base out of yet, I need to spend some more time with On X to see what is closest to the most good looking spots.

A buddy and I have 6 tags between us. We will be headed out late Friday night driving through the night to hunt Saturday morning.

Good luck guys! Does anybody else think it’s kinda weird they weren’t able to get the data they are looking for during the general season? Seems like all these deer didn’t have to get killed. Maybe they didn’t realize it was such a problem until after that?

I think you had to pay $17 plus shipping to get tested during the general season, they probably didn't get enough sample points in.

I wish my crystal ball was working and could see when the limit will be hit and shut down the hunt.

Testing wasn't required prior to this hunt. Every animal has to be submitted for testing here. Another benefit is if you can reduce the population maybe you can reduce the spread of the disease.

do we have to wait for them to come in the mail or can we go to a license vendor in montana and have them printed off?

No idea why you would need them tomorrow.  It's just opening day.

Yea no big deal. Just wanted to leave so I can hunt Saturday. They'll probably get to me about the time both quotas have been met. It can't take that long for 400 antlerless deer to stack up

WI will test if the deer comes out of one of the zones.

Shoot a nubbin, according to the WI guys, no young of the year test positive....
