Please don't be a pig

Well, I took my son out yesterday mainly to shoot a few pattern targets and ended up on one of the FFTH properties. Let's just say someone left it in a very undesirable condition, I picked up shells, a coffee cup, beer cans, cigarette butts, misc other garbage and a broken decoy along with a few bonus items on the walk out and the parking area.
If it was you or you leave garbage, please think about what you are doing to yourself and the rest of us. If a landowner wanders over there and sees that, how likely is he to sign up next year?
I can't remember the last time I didn't find junk left by someone else. A few shells you don't see is not what I'm talking about, I'm sure a few escaped my sight, but when there is a bunch of junk in and around the blind and parking area, it's bad for everyone.

Unfortunately that is all too common. I pick up more trash left by others than I care to mention.

Trash sucks.
That's awesome that your local FFTH land allows target shooting. No FFTH stuff around here allows any target shooting.

They closed all the FFTH areas where I live to shooting a couple of years ago because of all the trash that is left. The farmer I talked to was tired of picking up all the trash left in his wheat fields.

If it were my land it would be closed because I would be checking to see if people were showing respect for my property.

I’ve started carrying a trash bag with me on these areas. At the very least I come back with a good collections of empty shells and wads, usually misc. trash as well. I shoot an auto and I can’t say that I find all my empties, but I usually come back with more than I fired.

I sure wish some people wouldn't ruin it for others being pigs. I hauled out a full grocery bag of shells, wads and other garbage. From a private property spot I hunt where the owner hadn't given anyone else permission. I guess if your trespassing no reason to clean up.

I picked up 40 or so fresh hulls (left by others) from one of our hot spots that we have hit a few times in the last couple weeks, with great success. I don't get it. If a spot is so good that you fired your gun that many times, would you want to leave evidence of your epic shoot, or would you want to clean up the area and make it look like no one had been there? When we roll up on a spot that either scouting or our experience tells us is good and we find a fresh pile of hulls it confirms for us that we are going to hunt there.
People don't get that a pile of hulls and trash is the ultimate spot burn. Stupid. Maybe they don't intend on coming back?

Trash leaving trash is everywhere. Take a look at any regular bank maggot hole at any popular salmon/ steelhead river. And folks wonder why we lose access.

Boy that just ticks me off every time I go out to shoot. I take my daughter out and we spend more time picking up trash than shooting. I just tell her some people are just pigs and they don't care and they are the ones who ruin it for everyone else. All you can do is try and set a good example and pick it up.

Hopefully the title applies to everyone who doesn't take their homemade crappers and other junk home from elk camp.
