Montana Elk/Deer Outfitter Review. A+
« on: December 13, 2017, 05:31:18 PM »
To anybody looking to go on a Guided Deer/Elk or Bear or Wolf Hunt next year. Please talk to James w/ Montana Rivers & Ridges Outfitters. He is licensed to guide out of the Bitter Roots. A lot of land to hunt. I hunted with James this September for Archery Elk / Deer (focusing 99% on Elk). Bad luck hit me with a horrible snow storm 5 days of my 6 day hunt, but we still managed to get in the Elk almost everyday. I ended up missing a nice 6x bull followed up by another Miss at a Smaller Bull. Yeah I know.....I sucked. First real misses with a bow in 4+ years...James worked his butt off and gave me his very best service in a not so ideal weather situation. This was a Lodge hunt with a cook. Talk about High Class! I was more into the Hunting side, but it was nice to come back every night to a bed & shower. We hunted by foot mostly every day. Either driving to a closed gate or trail head. The hunt was physically demanding but not by any means "Super Tough" we hiked slow, we took breaks and did multiple set ups each day. James made sure we were going at a pace that wouldn't make it tough to shoot in case we bumped a bull / herd.

I was able to come back to Hunt w/ James in November and hunt during Rifle season. I filled my bull tag on the First day. We used his mules to get my bull off the Mountain the 2nd day. Throughout the first 2 days, we were in Whitetail Bucks everyday. Ample opportunities at smaller bucks. On the 3rd day, I finally couldn't take it anymore and took a quick shot at a basket sized buck and missed.

I can't stress enough how great his Outfit was. He's very Knowledgeable about Elk Hunting and his area he is licensed to Hunt in. Witch is Huge! I never Hunted the same place twice and never ran out "Room" to hunt. We hunted Public lands and didn't see people other then at the gates or trail heads. If you're looking to go on a Hunt next year with a High Success rate. Give James a call or Visit his Website http://www.mtriversandridges.com/

Picture of my Bull below. Not a monster, but I wasn't going to be picky in November with only a few days left.

Congrats and thanks for the info.  Your writeup on his business is a better promotion than any advertising dollars he could ever spend.

I went to school with James at CWU, great guy. Glad his business is doing well, he has built it the right way. Hope to get over there and hunt with him sometime.
