Which state(s) next?
« on: December 15, 2017, 08:42:41 PM »
So I currently apply for and/or hunt WA, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana and Idaho. Looking to add another 1 or 2 states to my repertoire for mule deer. Votes? Utah? Nevada?

Nevada for sure.
Utah if you are willing to hunt the general seasons.  If not I wouldn't apply.

Haven’t heard as much about Utah on here as some of the other Rocky Mountain states, but hear a lot about it elsewhere. My understanding is that the quality tags are essentially OIL, but excellent. I started building points there thinking I’d have a great hunt when I retire in 30 years or so.  Anyone have experience with the general season tags there? Worth the drive?

Some of the Utah  LE muzzy hunts look like they have decent draw odds, guys are drawing on 2 or 3 points. Last week of September hunts, sounds like it might be a good option for a guy that likes to hunt high? Anybody hunt early muzz down there that can offer some insight?

I got my 2018 hunts planned   Just purchased my Idaho elk tag   Archery sept 20/29   Then if all works out to Utah for muzzleloader deer   oct 1/5    Then off to Wyoming for antelope oct 6/12  My draw odds are good for Utah and Wyoming
First time doing a hunt of this length  solo   All planned out using  gohunt app and onx map   All public land  Going to be an adventure

If you're happy hunting general season with a muzzy apply.  If you want a Henry's, San Juan, Bookcliff's, Paunsaugunt, West Desert Vernon, etc. tag only don't waste your time or money.  Sure you could beat the odds and draw a random tag but chances are slim.
