Hunting elk peaches ridge tag
« on: January 06, 2018, 08:46:06 PM »
Hello, this my first post.Ive been following this site for awhile,it's been helpful thanks.I had a group of guys that had peaches tags last year 6 of us.I had 16 wa. Points trying to be done with them. Two members of my group were over 75 years old.(archery)I made the trip to gmu 346 10 plus times with 5 cams in tow.I had places for the older guys to hunt and a great camp with shade and water found. Then the fire took off we we able to get camp out under FS help. Our camp split up with not sure we're to go.The older guys went back to old hunting grounds because we had no other good places. The other four hunters try to keep hunting. After 5 different camps we  finished the hunt tag soup, not quality.I had 34 branched bulls and 7 spikes on trail cams.I don't think I'll hunt Wa again. So I have some info for any one with that tag next year, if I can help iam here.?

It was archery,I was trying to get the older guys a quality hunt before they can't anymore .There minds are get but the bodies don't always agree. The fire was just bad timing, but it will make great hunting in the years to come.

There is a ton of area in that unit, plenty of places for the elk to find steep and deep territory far from roads or trails.  That said, there are accessible elk and it's a great hunt.  The hard part is drawing the tag, like most of the good draws in WA.
