Hancock kapowsin. Tons of them and tons of land and not much competition for predator hunting. Almost everywhere I set up to call I got responses last time out.

Do you need a permit to access Hancock in Kap or can you walk in?

Thanks!. I Will look into this. In order to access Kapowasin you need a permit which you can purchase on MARCH 16TH. I believe their $350 or something.

Is it  just motorized access but non motorized doesn’t need a pass? Or either way you need a pass?

I think there's a pretty big potential in checking out some private property for coyote hunting around Pierce County (assume other counties, too). There'a a LOT of 'em around, that's for sure. Could pay to knock on a few doors.

Hancock has a non motorized permit I think it's $75. Lots of private property around Elbe dump near Adler lake lots of yotes too. From what I've heard from folks it's one of the easier permissions to get, not a lot of love for coyotes.

Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

Scout, use onX maps, I work my butt off scouting for day spots and night spots. The more effort you put in the more success you will have!!

I live in the area. Family owns the ranch at the end of pleasant valley. My brother kills them all the time. I'm sure he won't mind sharing some of the fun. PM me for info.

You mind if I ask what kind of call you're using?  I do a lot of bear calling on the west side, mostly using fawn distress.  Lots of hours and a variety of locations and have never called in a coyote.  I see plenty of coyote sign and would like to stay sharp in the off season.

Small animal in distress at a low volume, then throw in a none aggressive howl or 2, then pup in distress at a loud volume. Do this in a period of 25 minutes.  This way of calling works best just after they kick there pups out

I was using the coyote locator call. It’s like a pack of coyotes calling all together. I had trouble getting them to come all the way in. On the east side I’ve called them in with female howls though

You know your hunt went well when you had a shot that was unethical and you never took it, even if you never got your bull.

They are all over Pierce. Just be aware of the no-shooting zone.
