Southeast Colorado
« on: February 08, 2018, 09:16:38 AM »
Anybody know anything about hunting the plains of SE Colorado?  I have been invited to hunt mule deer on a large cattle ranch near La Junta.  Is this a big buck area?  Looking here first for info from those in the know.

My hunting partner used to live there and ran that area for BNSF.  He was always talking about the giant deer they saw in and around the rails in that country.

I don't think my invite says "+1"  :chuckle:

Good to hear.  The owner says he has some big mulies, but big is relative.

He didn't mention whitetail, but I wouldn't travel that far for a whitetail anyway.

My brother in law is from eastern Colorado and his family takes some huge buck out there.  Most of the land is private so you are lucky to have an invite onto some land.

Eastern Colorado in general is one of the best places to kill a monster mule deer if you can get land access. Sounds like a great opportunity to me

I'm jealous!  Plains country pumps out giants!

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!

I'll trade you some premium Alaskan Halibut and Salmon if I can tag along.

Trust me, it'll be worth it.   Some of the best fish you've ever had........
