Guided Elk.....where would you go?
« on: February 23, 2018, 11:39:05 AM »
If a guy wanted a guided elk hunt (trophy), where would he go??  Lets pretend cost is not an issue (well within reason...LOL) and no High Fence hunt.  Would prefer a 340+ class bull for the money and assume it would be a ranch hunt with high success rates.

Where would you look or have you gone with good success and good customer service.

......and go!!

I'd look at region 7 in Wyoming, wagonhound ranch comes to mind.

That would be on my short list. It takes about 8 years for a non res to draw unit 7, however.

Re you looking just for a trophy or fabulous scenery like the Bob Marshall has. Maybe a true Wilderness experience?

I would do Chama, New Mexico if money was not a consideration, LOL

More looking for a quality bull.  I am turning 41 this year and am starting to think I will never draw in this state.  I have shot elk over my years....just never a nice bull.  I hunt wilderness and definitely enjoy the "hunt" and "Scenery"....but this quest is for a bull worth mounting and putting on my all.   May be the only big bull I ever shoot.

It was like 10 to 15 grand there if I remember right. I seen some success pics over the last few years and I believe 340 is the bottom end of the scale.

I would probably call him up:

I don't care if I kill the biggest bull on the hill, I just want a great camp, fun people to hunt with, hunting harder than I want and a chance at a 300" bull if I am lucky.
