With no points I'd look to New Mexico for sure.

I'd shop some of the outfitters in BC and Alberta that hunt the Canadian Rockies. Many do combo deer and elk hunts that run concurrent. Not neccessarily the best "trophy" region but could be a good value hunt with the exchange rate.

The place Joe Rogan hunted with Cam Haines in Utah.

I know I've lost it, let me know if you come across it

Alberta late horseback hunt, or Wyoming late horseback hunt... that latter I’ll experience in the next 5 years when I draw...

PS, lets talk about deer, they’re way cooler...

Ted Turner's Flying D Ranch in Montana. It's called little Yellow Stone with all the animals there. 99% success rate, huge bulls, $15,000.

This. I know a guide that works that ranch. 340 is very doable with several bulls in the 360 range getting killed every year. General tag so need for points.

Re you looking just for a trophy or fabulous scenery like the Bob Marshall has. Maybe a true Wilderness experience?

More looking for a quality bull.  I am turning 41 this year and am starting to think I will never draw in this state.  I have shot elk over my years....just never a nice bull.  I hunt wilderness and definitely enjoy the "hunt" and "Scenery"....but this quest is for a bull worth mounting and putting on my all.   May be the only big bull I ever shoot.

Out of curiosity how many points do you have for quality elk?

13..... I think.  When they did the switch....I magically lost 2 points.  Oh well.

New Mexico. Worked with a few native New Mexicans this past summer that guide when laid off. Seen impressive pictures of bulls that are shot.

Their cooking is pretty darn good too.

That's a decent amount. I'd give it a few more years of putting in before thinking of going outta state. I personally know multiple people that have drawn with way less points including myself and have killed 340+bc bulls and thats just in the last few years. I know the waiting game sucks and our point system isn't the best, but it will happen for you soon!

Your still to young to worry about never getting drawn...give it a couple more years. :chuckle:

Besides that all the advice that has been given is solid.
