Good tip. I've bought ammo and AR parts from Aimsurplus in the past and have been happy with them. Wishing they'd get some of the Wolf 6.5 Grendel ammo back in stock tho...

Is saving $2-300 a deal when you are buying a pistol with more than 10,000 rounds down the pipe? And 10,000 is probably way low. I'm not sure it is to me but I could be wrong. My wife's line of work has her at the range for training days and 800-1000 everytime is the norm. Most guys won't do that in a year or 2 let alone a single day. Buying a gun that has been shot to sh... doesn't seem great.

A lot of agency guns only see a few hundred rounds per year. And agencies will often replace their guns every so many years.

A person would be hard pressed to find a law enforcement officer around here that has shot 10,000 rounds in their entire life.  Other than a few that are avid shooters with their persenal Firearms. Besides the majority of handgun owners will never put 500 rounds through a single handgun in their lifetime. There are millions and millions of handguns just tucked away with extremely low Miles.

Glock barrels are known for going well over 100K. So if we do the math for let's say a non reloader and they are getting a bargain on plinking ammo at $10.00 per 50. That's a minimum of $20,000.00 to shoot or start to shoot the barrel out. The icing on the cake is a OEM GLOCK barrel is around a $125.00 bucks. So if a guy is seriously going to spend his life shooting seriously large amounts of ammunition. The cost of the handgun is chump change compared to the cost of loaded ammunition and or reloading components.

Any other taxpayers a little irritated by this?

In some Agencies the person has an issue weapon, but they choose to carry an alternate. When the local sheriffs department swapped out the 40's for 45's a few years ago I bought one that didn't have any marks on the bolt face. It had never been shot.  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: He was plain clothes and carried a smaller item.

I can't say that about it now.  :chuckle: :chuckle

And this brings up a good point. I see folks on here selling a firearm and everyone is wanting to know the round count like it's critical.
I have always asked the folks who tell me that after a few hundred rounds the barrels are shot out. How often do you think the Military changes barrels on the weapons they issue.  :dunno:
I can't believe they swap out a barrel after 2000 + rounds
