Maybe for SCI, but doesn't hold a candle to some of the greatest typicals killed.  209" net B&C (not official) in Muley Crazy (inflated scores).  The Burris buck nets nearly 20 more inches.  Still a great deer, though.

Not saying he is not special - just saying he is not #1  :chuckle:

OK, so I took a piece of paper and marked out the width of the 4 fingers on his right hand.  Then I used that as a scale (assuming his 4 fingers are approximately 4 inches across), and measured the width.  I came up with a touch over 7 lengths (not counting the inline kicker).  I guess that would be around 29" outside spread.    Try it.

And, like stated above, no one is saying that it isn't a huge buck, I just think some of us are suprised it is #1 SCI.  Did someone say it "was not that special"?  I must have missed that post.  I'll go back and look.

Hey PF, looks to me like his widest point is outside his g3's. I took a tape to my hand around a couple of my racks, the guy doesn't look any bigger than me and my hands came out at 3 1/2" Then I measured it out on the screen and came up with about 7.5 hands across and came up with 26.25" If you look at his hand it is closer to the camera than the g3's as well which would make his hand a little larger. If you move it back to the g3 area it may just hit that 29" width, :dunno: hard for me to beleive its that wide looking at those ears though. Either way its a toad of a typical

Phool, that may be more accurate than what I did.  I laid a ruler accross my knuckles and got 3 3/4", but I have small hands, so I figured his at 4".  I had my hand laid flat though.  I guess it would be less with a fist.

Even so... If I shot that buck, I would have the same look on my face that the dude in the picture has.  And I don't think I would be able to get it off for a few months :chuckle:

It's obvious that some people do not enter their trophies in SCI.  I just looked at the SCI virtual record book and can not find some of the names mentioned in previous posts.

I know.  Point was that neither book was a complete, end all/be all record of every big animal taken.  That's all.
