From the look of the 22 bullet I don't think a round would have chambered. Well, use that theory to comfort your jangling nerves, anyway!

Great write-up. Thanks for taking the time!

I know that I don't always check my rifles everytime out so this is a lesson that we can all learn from.

I would say to the members to check any and all weapons purchased anywhere and to even be wary of sellers that seem to do a lot of business selling firearms. No one is above an honest mistake or intentional neglect.

I'll say it as well, let's all thank God that no one was hurt especially your daughter.  I know you're like me and would literally take a bullet for your daughter and this would have just killed me if my daughter had gotten hurt over a gun I had purchased her.

Wow! I am so glad nobody was hurt. Not to sound like I'm preaching or anything, but you should allways pull the bolt and look down the barrel on any rifle before you purchase it. Not to look for an obstruction, because that is very abnormal, but to look for cleanliness of the bore, it says alot about the seller if the bore is dirty.

Man Phool, I'm so glad you checked it out before your daughter fired it. What kind kind of creep would have knowingly sold something like that to someone. Hopefully the guy you bought it from will not be dealing with jerk again.

Surely there must have been some divine intervention from the big guy

Glad that it all worked out and thank you for sharing the story.  I thought that you couldn't use paypal for guns, I could be mistaken though.

You can use it if its a private sale and you check "other services", of course you had better have confidence in your seller ;)

Huntnphool said it correct. However, you must be careful because the comments or notes section is where they catch things. No matter which box you check don't mention Guns or gun parts in the notes/comments. They will lock up the account for 180 days and hold your money.

Im glad all is well with you and your daughter after that incident, very scary. A couple of years ago, a friend of mine was at Hole in the wall gun shop here in the tri-citys, he pulled a used 22 rifle down off the rack, pulled the bolt back and a live round popped out, he told the guy at the counter and he just threw his hands up in the air and oh well. sure makes ya wonder.
God is great, Beer is good, people are crazy.
