SHot a Whitetail Spike on th elast day of the late season and my old man shot a nice fat doe about an hour later.  We were hunting on our property out in Rice.  Up in the Hucleberry.  Had some bruiser buck around in September, but they were scarce the rest of the season.  First year we have owned the property, so we learned alot about the area and hope to do better next year.  We also got a doe for my step-mom on opening day of muzzleloader.  Not very exciting.  Looked out the kitchen window at daybreak, stepped out on their back porch and looked up the hill at the does and picked the biggest one and she shot her.  About a 5 minute ordeal.  Not much of a hunt, but they just wanted the meat.  Dad and I hunted hard all season, but never could connect on the big guys.

Voting isn't either, but then again I wouldn't want Hillary in either because I didn't stop by the booth.

Not much more than people does and small bucks during general for me. Saw some biggins in my area in august but the weak broken leg slowed me down for the deneral season pretty hard because i had surgery a week before opener. Did take a kid out though and got him his first deer a doe. Went on late hutn and jumped one hellacious buck in his bed and I was so suprised that when I saw him I didnt take a shot and then he was runnign and all there was was a texas heart shot. Shot at a smaller buck on the last day but I missed..... :bash:. Thats my deer season.

Not even close. His was tag soup of the most enviable kind.
Mine was just plain old ordinary lack of ambition tag soup. Not just on deer, but bear and elk as well. So now that I have hit rock bottom it can only get better.

I am acually having tag/horn soup,(I throw in any 2pt sheds I find). With a bull in the freezer I had the chance to be picky for once, and I really didn't try all that hard.

Tag soup here too. This was my first year archery hunting. I had a buck broadside at about 35 yards. He was looking straight at me, I was full draw, but couldn't count three horns. He wouldn't turn his head, I only had a front view of his horns. I couldn't hold any longer and had to let down, arrow bounced on the riser and he bolted. Still didn't get to see what he was. I also had a blown stalk on a doe the last day of early season. I did have a lot more fun hunting archery that I ever did modern. More practice this year, and hopefully no tag soup this year.

Damn I just seen this post. I hunted modern this year an while I saw legal bucks the whole time I was out, I was holding out for a particular 4p muley I seen during harvest. He ended up getting shot on the adjoing property I hunt. And I missed my when I had my shot....he wasnt supposed to be where he was and when he jumped up I missed the shot. Hed been shot at a few times that week evidently cause when I saw him last he was full throttle across a stubble field.  Teaches me to expect the unexpected........oh well next year he'll be bigger.
