Thanks bobcat.Hopefuly you do not lose your points ive got 7 for deer and 2 for elk.I stopped applying in Wa. when I went to muzzleloader in 05, lewy is  right I should have put in for ghost points :bash:

Your still in good shape with 7, you should get drawn any time, depending on what your putting in for. I will have 9 going in, I'm hoping I don't have to max out to get drawn :(.
max out? how many does it max out at?

I'm also wondering what it means to "max out."  ???   There is no maximum number of points a person can accumulate.

I have very little faith in the point system. I see so many people get drawn and redrawn with 0 or 1 point.

There is no threshold for max points, at least not yet....it has been discussed to cap it.   When folks claim they are stuck at max it means they have been putting in since the beginning and have as many points as possible, but never get drawn.  So, I have max points at sheep, means when I don't get drawn again this year, I'll have one more and that is the new max.

But then you throw in turn in points and there is a new max

I absolutely swear I read in this forum more than one person posted the max was 12 (they thought). I never really looked into it, but until now I've never heard of anyone over 12.

Bone's right. if the draws have been going on for 14 years then the highest number of points anyone can have leaving poacher points out of the equation is 14.
"max" in this context is probably not the best word to use because at this point there is no cap on points.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I hear ya sako for 7 years straight I put in couldnt even get a doe tag

You guys need to put in for draws that are easier to get if you want a doe tag.  Take a look at my history for deer permits; SELECTED 4 yrs in a row from 2001 - 2004.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Just curious what you put in for Curly to get drawn five times in ten years, all doe tags?

You guys just ruined my holiday, I just realized with no max, the Empress will never let me get drawn :chuckle:. What would you call a tag you can never get in your life time, a NIL tag? :chuckle:

The 4 in a row were doe tags.  I used to go pheasant hunting all the time over near Pomeroy and I would see tons of deer over there so I would put in for doe tags and take off for a week and go pheasant hunting and bag a doe while I was at it.  It was a real easy hunt, but I figured I might as well bring home more meat than just a bunch of birds .......(actually my wife practically forces me to go kill deer for the meat, since she loves venison).

I'm done putting in for doe permits now.  I actually drew a pretty good buck permit a couple years ago with just a few pref points and got a nice 4 point.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
