Youth turkey hunting '10
« on: April 03, 2010, 09:07:31 AM »
My son shot his first turkey this morning at 6:10 am.  I was about 30 yards behind him doing the calling.  This tom walked up and stood in between my decoys (one jake and one hen) for about a minute.  I thought my son was gonna pass him up   :dunno:  The tom turned and walked away about 20 feet and Mason popped him at 12 yards.  It was like watching a turkey hunting video.... small puff of feathers, two or three wing flaps.... and then me saying " RIGHT F***ING ON SON"

When I asked him if he felt the recoil, he said "NO I was shaking to hard to feel anything"   :IBCOOL:   :IBCOOL:   :IBCOOL:

Pics were taken with my cell phone, I'm gonna try like hell to get better ones taken this morning

The beard is 9.5 inches.... measured from where first comes out of the skin to the tip of the longest hair.  Not bad for his first bird.  Coolest part is that he just passed his hunters safety about 3 weeks ago.

Spurs are 3/4" measured from where they start to pop out of the skin on his legs.

Sweet, good for him, nothing like the sound of a gobbler on opening morning.
