I have tried it once and it didn't seem to work as well as a block or stumplikker.  They love stumplikker.

I tried it and was not impressed.  Had many elk on my trail camera just walk by it.  A few stopped.   I put out some COB and they stopped every time to eat!

I just picked some up earlier this year. It seems that we have gotten  a couple of pictures of deer. Just nothing staying on it and eating it. We will get a picture of a deer walking right by it, then one of a deer sniffing it.  :twocents:
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

I have used it for a few years with great results for both deer and elk in the same spot. the first year in a month the stump I put it on was gone and a one foot hole was in the ground. I have had a few pics of them peeing in the hole and then eating the dirt. the bears totally just pass it by.

Hey gents.

I'm pretty new to the site and very new to trail cams.  I just bought one and put it up a couple weeks ago.   I'm still learning how to position it, so no great pics yet.

Anyway, reading this post I had a question:   What is COB?   If that's the stupidest question you've heard in a very long time feel free to have a laugh on me.... :)

I was guessing it might be corn cobs, but I've already confessed my ignorance, so..... :dunno:

I put salt out for mine since I didn't know what else to use for elk.

I'm primarily interested in elk., so if you wouldn't mind giving a pointer on what might work well for elk I would appreciate it.

thanks..........

Thanks Bobcat.

I guess I don't feel as stupid as I thought I might.

I assume you can pick it up at a feed store?

Have you had good luck getting good elk pics with it, or would you recommend anything different for good elk pics?

The elk haven't seemed to stop at my salt blocks much, which I found surprising.   The few pics I've gotten so far look like the elk are walking right past the salt????

This is my first year using trail cams and so far I haven't used any kind of "bait" or attractant. I just position it so that the animals will be either walking almost directly towards, or directly away from the camera, so that the camera has enough time to "wake up" and still get a picture or three.
