Using live chickens for coyote hunting
« on: March 10, 2011, 12:47:59 PM »
Is it legal? I have a gorgeous dog that is immune to calls. I watched him bed down at 400 yards, I threw everything including the kitchen sink at him calling wise, he could not care less about them. So I am thinking about making an all day stand with a chicken tied up with some fishing line. Why you might ask? Because this is getting personal.  :chuckle:

I don't see why it wouldn't be legal. Unless they deem it to be "animal cruelty".

I think it's a good idea. Would be fun to try. Be sure to take some pictures of your setup and post them here!

A chicken on a string.  Sounds good to me.  Not sure if it is legal.  I don't think so since it is considered baiting.  I would call the game dept.

You can bait coyotes. It's only illegal to bait bears.

It's probably a lot more economical than buying a $500 Foxpro.   :chuckle:

Well i called the Yakima main office, per the Capt. (did not get a name) you can use live bait as long as there is no edible parts of game birds. So you cant trap a live pheasant and then tie it up, but a chicken from home is fair game.   :whoo: game on! I will be sure to post pics of the event.  :)
