Thanks for your clarification, we know people who live close there too and they have heard them howl.

I wasn't aware that WDFW had confirmed that pack....  :dunno:

2007 i spotted a wolf 26 miles west of spokane while hunting the late archery season. i had just returned from two trips in AK that year as well as having seen them in ID for 4 previous years..... i knew what i had seen but was embarassed to say anything figuring nobody would believe it. that following spring one was hit and killed on hwy 291 not 3 miles from where i had seen one. a biologist confirmed it to be a wolf and was in the Spokesman review.

observed wolf tracks in september of 2011 6-8 miles south of chewelah while elk hunting on two different outings. heard a pack howling on 9/16 while packing a bull out.

11/22/11 saw and photographed (with my phone) two wolves chasing turkeys on our property while hanging a treestand in the rattlesnake ridge area above the little spokane river corridor. without knowing that i had seen the wolves, my best friend's father in law was sitting in a ground blind 100 yards from the little spokane river near st georges on 32 acres of private ground and saw 2 wolves again chasing turkeys on 11/23.

the last two sightings are within 2-3 miles of the Spokane city limits.

Thanks for your info, could you please note which GMU's these sightings occurred in?  THANKS AGAIN

I watched 4 very dark colored wolves laying in a field for over 1 1/2 hours this afternoon. They were 1/4 mile of Carlton, unit 242 Alta.  I had the scope set outside, they were still laying there when I froze out and left.  These were not the very light colored wolves we been seeing for a couple years.

Thgis is where WDFW is saying there are only two wolves left isn't it?

He saw two wolves and their two shadows.  Now all I need is a WDFW decal on my coat and that would be an official statement to correct this "stupid hunter" sighting.  We just can't be jotting down more than we have and reach the goal or we lose $$$$$$$$$.

Yes, the two we have left are the three light colored ones I watched several times last winter, then in the next breath they tell you how far a wolf roams.  But if all 8 of the  Lookout Pack is not present "the poachers got them".

Every where I went in the Teanaway I crossed wolf tracks. All right behind elk tracks. In Musser creek, Mills creek, Blue Creek, Indian Creek, Middle Creek, Carlson Canyon, Yellow Hill, Red Top, Iron Creek, Swauk Prarie area. I saw 3 wolves for SURE in Carlson Canyon.

Can you post the GMU and which month(s) you saw all this? Also, were the three wolves traveling together and what color were they, all adults?
THANKS

Had two reports now in the last 2 months of a pack in the Aeneas valley by Tonasket.  One was from a logger and one from a farmer.  Both reports were 7 wolves seen.   I will try and track down the original spotter.

My gf and I saw 2, late November 2010. We were just a few miles out from Lake Conconully. we had stopped and started glassing when she stated that.. thats one big coyote! i used my spotting scope and about 200yards out he was standing on a rock looking down the valley. About 20 feet away i spotted the other. We watched for around 15 minutes then they both went down into the draw.
They were not black.
maybe i am a bit paranoid but I keep my 16 year old son a little closer to me now.

Just watched 3 wolves, they were laying in the field across the river from Carlton.  About 20 minuets they walked into the canyon on the left and disappeared.  They all were medium color, at least 2 were different wolves than I watched two days ago.  Unit 242 Alta.

At 1:35 this afternoon 5 wolves trotted the length of the big field across the river from Carlton, They were moving in a line 100 yards long, they had a plan and were going some place. Didn't have time to set the scope up but watched in the bino's. They were in sight less than 5 minutes.

I assume this is the Lookout Pack?
Which GMU is that where you saw these wolves?

WDFW needs to get on top of these wolf sightings, how will they ever confirm Washington's wolf packs with only 1 trapper. We've already got wolves all over the state and they cannot seem to keep up with the first pack confirmed in the state. :twocents:
