Thanks DIY I will do some research around those areas and see what I can find out. Right now I am focusing on deer hunting for the next couple weekends. I was debating on greenwater knowing that the hunting is pretty limited but if I recall correctly it is gmu 653 and there is no modern elk hunting in there so scratched the idea. So I will continue to do some more research and hopefully I can come up with a decent weekend hunt for some elk. I have a nice little chest freezer that some elk would fit in perfectly.

So I got stuck purchasing an elk tag this year since they dont have the Deer-Bear-Cougar combo anymore. Kinda bummed about that. But now that I have the damn thing I am interested in using but I have it for modern firearm and on the westside should not have specified that info till I did some research. But I am pretty sure I cant switch so oh well. So my question to all of you is. Is there any decent elk hunting on the west side with modern firearm within an hour or hour and a half of kent wa I know that limits me quite a bit but I need something since there isnt much in the area that I hunt. Any info would be appreciated thank you

Taken from the 2011 regs, this deer, bear cougar combo, they still sell! :dunno: :dunno:

After the september 1st price hike they no long the deer bear cougar combo. Above the tag and permit section in red lettering if I recall correctly that there will be a price change and there may be changes made. I went to several places to buy my liscence to see what was goin on and the it was the same all around I even looked at the screens behind the counter and they did not have deer bear cougar combo as an option. If you wanted deer with bear and cougar you had to get elk also. Believe me I tried for just the deer bear cougar it wasnt happening.

If hunting was easy, they'd call it killing....

If you are so uninterested in it....why go? Wow.

From Kent, you are within range of many great elk hunting areas. Do some research or somebody is going to suggest you try Island county.
dang it ICEMAN dont tell everyone that we have elk in Island county.  8)
Seriously!  Island county has been my big bull honey hole for years.  It was kept nice and quiet until now! Ughhhh

I would second looking at harvest reports.  I don't know of anyplace within your 1-1 1/2 hr criteria, but there's probably a place or two.
