Its nice to be able to get out, but the hides on larger bears are no good, super thin and rubbed usually, the only downfall.

I won't be out on the opener for bear, as I'll be in Oregon elk hunting instead, for a few days. But I've got a spot all picked out for the following weekend where I plan on calling in and killing a bear. Don't care much about the hide as I don't have the money nor a place to put it if I did have it done. But I've got lots of freezer space for all the meat, that's what I'm after. Not to mention the chance to save some of next year's fawns.

I will be in the Blues come opening day. My sister-in-law has mentioned a bear rug a few times. I am going to see about getting one. I spent some time this pm working up loads for my 270. Next I have to go to the range and make sure everything is okay. We can't have a fire due to restrictions this year, so the 5 pounds of ribeye steaks I took for turkey hunting in the Blues last year is out. I have some moose german sausage that I can bring. I have to do some meal planning this week. Maybe some moose burgers are in order.
Also, the Blues have some nice electrical storms as entertainment in the evenings.

Never set up a bear camp....that could be fun. Usually, I just do day hunts...I like the idea of a bear camp though...it would be cool, having a predator camp!

730 bones on a predator caller Rick?! Man...you could have hired me, made me thrash around and call for you for that price...must be worth it!

I will be all set up Thursday night at 4500', west side. One of my buddies "might" join me....probably not... Gonna look for mega-pooper from last year. Hope there are ripe berries by now, but I sort of doubt it....  I need the four days to decompress, bear or no bear...

The little wild blackberries and wild raspberries are ripe as low as 500 feet in Western WA.
