buck kills 2011..
« on: March 14, 2012, 04:31:07 PM »
My partner and i had a good year going with each of us wacking bulls in Early Archery and we had a couple mule deer rut tags sitting in our pockets so we were tickled Pink to say the least going into Deer Season. Started off opening day of the general deer season My buddy Aaron and I just sat at home waiting for Novemeber to get here so we could go deer hunt, couple weeks went by and everyone we knew was out deer huntning, the anticipation of our special hunt was killing us so we decided to go spend a ton of money on Hunting stuff for our hunt cause that is what you do when you go on a good hunt.. So Finally November comes and we are getting ready to leave for our hunt we leave a week after the hunt opened cause thats when its best we think.. We get to camp and we look like a cabela's magizine with all the crap we just bought,  :chuckle:  we wanted everyone to know we were from the westside.. lol, just kiddin, but I guess we kinda did  with all brand new chit on..  :chuckle:.. We hunt were we drew these tags yearly so we are familiar with our hunting grounds, but I had a buddy over there who knows it a lot better then we do and he was cool enough to play guide for a couple days.. I was hunting with my Dad, and my buddy Aaron "the other tag holder" was hunting with my bro and his dad and my buddy..  to make a long story short cause when you get a good tag in a good area in the rut there isnt a whole lot of skill involved as long as you can shoot a gun straight and know the area.. It was like hunting in a zoo, i have never seen so many bucks in my life it was pretty much hold out till you see a big one you want to shoot.. I promised myself I was going to hold out for a toad but son of a biatch after 4 days and passing on literally 15 different 4 points I had to ich my finger, and the one i shot was a little heavy, eye guards, 4 point, the whole package but probably 6 inches narrower then I planned on shooting.. :chuckle:.. I was hoping for 30 but dam it I couldnt hold out any longer.. :chuckle:.. Aaron my buddy shot his buck the 1st day, he has never hunted Mule deer so when he seen his buck he got the shakes like a 14 year old boy on prom night.. look close he even scoped himself.. :chuckle:..  Overall it was probably the best deer hunt I have been on, we probably literally seen 150 bucks  :chuckle: and drank a bunch of beers with some good people and nothing went wrong and we both went home with nice 4 points.. Kinda of a dull story but it was pretty much see a buck check it out with the one eye stock it and shoot it.. .. Thanks Lance on this hunt, you are probably the best Mule Deer Hunter we have seen..   :mgun:
