Manastash/Taneum, Can I have a fire in camp??????
« on: July 01, 2012, 10:56:07 AM »
Hey all, I am headed up camping this coming weekend in the Manastash.  Does anyone know if there is a burn ban in effect up there yet?  I am pretty sure you can't have a fire in the LT Murray, so we are thinking we will just camp on the forest service side of tamarack springs.  Is it okay to have a fire there?

If you know of a website with this kind of information that would be great.  I tried wa burn bans, but that seamed to be out of date confusing and not of much help.

I know all the state land is posted NO CAMPFIRES from like mid April to first of October.   :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Yes the LT is like that, but the on the other side of tamarack isn't state wildlife land it is forest service.  They have different fire rules, usually.

http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/okawen/alerts-notices/?cid=fsbdev3_053600#current%20restrictions

here are the restrictions in general.....call the cle elum office to ask about specific restrictions it changes as the weather changes and can vary from one day to the next depending on the fire danger.

I'd like to ask
Can you even get to Tamarack springs or buck meadows by pickup truck ?
I want to elk hunt it for archery this year and am thinking of pulling a 27ft trailer up there
I need to get over and get a look but have had some personal issues (surgery) take most of my time this summer.
hence why I asked before I get spammed by "go look yourself'

Madmax, I was around Tamarack on Memorial weekend this year and the 3330 road was open, but very washboard.  The  3111 road to Buck Meadows was open, but we couldn't cross the creek to Manastash campground.  The 3120 road was blocked at a creek about the halfway spot to the east of Frost Mountain, but people were driving around and through the creek.  I didn't.
I wouldn't attempt bringing a trailer up from Joe Watt, a stretch of the state road is about as close to driving a dried creek bed as I've seen on a government maintained road.
I plan to archery hunt the area too, hopefully my knees will have recovered enough after the surgery this summer.

Last update I received from the Cle Elum Ranger District....ranger has approved the new construction for the Manashtash Road (3100) and now the bids have to go out.  They hope to be completed by the end of August.

Just this past weekend drove up thru Watt Canyon to Tamarack Springs and then out to the 3330 and down to Taneum Creek.
Road out of Watt would not be advisable, it's as crappy as ever.
As said above, 3330 is not bad, just pretty wash boarded and a little worse than normal.

If you see a white Dodge dually packing an Arctic Fox camper and a white/stainless 3 horse trailer in tow, stop in and say hi.  We'll be in the Tamarack neighborhood Wednesday afternoon for the rest of the week.
