Little Naches/Manastash general archery

This will be my 1st year archery hunting, and would be very happy to tag a spike or cow to put some meat on the table while learning a new method of hunting. I know these areas a little, but have not hunted there much, and only with a rifle. I have read on other threads people saying all you need to do during general archery in the Little Naches is to set a chair by the road and wait. I have also read many post of the sarcastic nature  , which is all good. I have never had a shot opportunity near a road in my 20+ years of rifle hunting, so am I correct to take those previous posts as some fun jabbing?    I have a hard time believing it could be that easy, but like I said, this will be my first year archery hunting. Archery for elk is never that easy, anyone who tells you it is is lying.

You need to get over and scout as much as you can in the next month or so.

Last few years I have had great success in spotting road hunters and knowing where the elk escape routes are, let the guys push them up as they "set up" on the road.  I'm guessing there is a window of 15 mins where the animals could be spotted near roads, otherwise they are in the dark deep timber.

Just a couple elk...don't waste too much time!  Head to NE corner of WA, lots of opportunity up there!

Been hunting there since they opened it up during the general season and the only thing i have seen by the roads are usually on the run or at night. There is lots of nice areas in there and you will have better luck by hiking around.

In one of the areas I came across some elk near the roadway, about 50 yards maybe, several times that day as a matter of fact but I'll let you figure out which area.

All the elk i see from the road are always in the colockum.

Everybody knows the easiest hunt areas are in the colockum!  The elk are so friendly they practically walk and lay down in the bed of your truck for you.  Not only that but they're all 400" class bulls and even Bildo doesn't have to waste his breath bugling them!

I see elk everytime when I am there visiting but mostly on private property and like over 350 class  no true spikes unless you see a large herd but I also see lots of cows. We will see how my friend does this year he is hunting on private land in one those unites.I found that out after I bought my tags  ...

Thanks for all the responses!  I loved the line about Northwest Trek - classic!    Ya, I know there aren't any elk in the Little Naches, just like there aren't any wolves in the NE part of the state!
