Arrow flight of Broadhead vs. Field Points
« on: August 24, 2012, 09:42:50 AM »
Both are grouping well for me but not in the same location.. I'm dialed in with my broadheads but the field points are shooting about 1.5" right and about 1.5" low.  I'm paper tuned and I think everything is correct.

I'm not super worried about it as my broadheads shoot great and that's what matters but it doesn't make sense to me..  Have you guys come across this?

Thx

Just read down through the toics below this one and saw almost the same topic..

After reading it i see the importance of spline in my arrows vs. poundage and draw length.

I'm shooting at 60 lbs on 26.5" draw length.  Carbon Express Mutiny 250's.

From my calculations I think I should be good but if someone knows something more I'd love the advice.  I'm fairly new to bows and bow tuning.

Thx

Try moving your rest in TINY increments to the left and up. That should get them in the same spot. A little goes a long way when you move the rest.

I believe this is backwards. He should be moving his rest in the direction he wants his broadheads to go. In this case, the broadheads are shooting up and left of the field tips. The rest should go down and right, but with such a small difference (and we don't know at how many yards), the move should be just a little more than nothing.

It's pretty common that Broadheads fly different than field points. If your hunting than don't worry about field tips until you get back to target shooting. The adjustment advice is great, just little bits at a time. Make sure your tips are snug.

This is common but not correct.  If your broadheads aren't hitting exactly where your field points are, something is wrong.

Yes there is more adjusting you can do, but it is common. I totally agree with Gamblin Guy, page 11. That whole book is worth memorizing. If you weigh your field points against your broadheads you'll see a difference in the weight. Also it will depend on if your using 2, 3, or 4 blades. Once your tight with the broadheads you'll put meat in the freezer. I have every year. Best of luck.
