late buck fever!!!!
« on: November 06, 2012, 10:11:07 PM »
really looking forward to this late deer season on the west side hopefully the weather ends up like it was last year that foot of snow we got really made for a good late season....last late season i got the friday of late buck off of work got up to my dads property thurseday night and when i saw all the snow that was falling i was getting excited:]]]]]i knew the deer would be out so for the morning hunt we went out to a spot in the stormking area  where i had seen a nice 2 point during elk season we get there at daybreak and we ended up seeing four does and no bucks but i knew he was in the area so i had my dad stay at the bottom of the clearcut why i went around and was gonna walk  threw the timber to try to push something out  so when i get about halfway threw the timber  i heard the sound i love hearing my dad had dropped this nice 2 point about a 300  yard shot spent most of the morning dragging this deer 2 miles to the main trail then i went and got our deer cart so we get back to the property at noon and then we decided to check out this other spot in mossy rock just to get out we never expected what happened that afternoon..so we hike in about 3 miles then the road forks my dad went left to a nice spot with alot of cuts with 3 year reprod and i went to the right witch goes to a huge clear cut i sit there for about 30 mins and i thought i had a seen a deer about 300 yards away then the fog rolled in boy was i getting worried with only a hour of daylight left then the fog clears and all i see with the naked eye is a huge deer with a huge rack i pulled my gun up was not to excited on making a 300 yard shot when the deer is bedded down and faceing away from me so i shot once and missed then he got up walked a few yards and stoped broadside and shot and all i saw in my scope was the legs kick up i was so excited  this was by far my biggest blacktail yet its what people call a huge bushbuck!!!!!all in all it was a great late season last year!!!
