Not to hijack this thread but.......Jim the Plumber, Your 6x45 barrel, what is your favorite load? I have a BHW 6X45 10 twist 5 groove that will shoot only 58 V-Max boolets with reasonable accuracy, everything else is a total turd for groups.
Try the 85 grain Sierra spbt over 23.5 Ramshot Exterminator and LC primed brass.  I'm getting sub MOA with a 6X45, no name 10 twist 18" rifle length gas port, barrel.

Thanks Jim,

I will give the Sierra's a try. I just purchased some Sierra 60gr. HP's yesterday at Wholesale Sports to try in it for coyotes. I'll see where those take me and I know I have some 85 Speer SPBT in stock from my 243 and I'll try those with the Exterminator.

So I have to ask because you guys have me thinking crazy now.  I currently have an AR in 5.56.  I can change out the upper to a 6.5 and buy new mags and basically have a new gun, correct?

You don't even have to change out the upper on your 5.56. You can purchase a 6.5 LBC/Grendel barrel, bolt & magazine. Switch the bolt out in a flash, jam a Grendel Mag in it and swap the 5.56 barrel for the 6.5 LBC/Grendel barrel and off you go. Change it back to 5.56 anytime you want. You can also build or purchase a complete 6.5 upper and magazine. Pull your two take down pins, remove your 5.56 upper. Drop your 6.5 upper on and gas it up with a Grendel mag and your good to go.
And this is the same for pretty much any caliber correct?  Just swap out the barrel, bolt and mag and I can damn near have any caliber I wanted?

yes and no, your AR15 is limited to what will fit in a magazine. You may have to step up to a larger heavier ar10 for the big stuff.

But as for what fits in the AR mags, yes. You can go from a .22lr to a .50 cal beowolf

With anything from 22-250 or lager case you will need to step up to the AR10 size frame. Lots of choices in the shorter caliber option however.

So back to barrels...

Blackhole Weaponry and Saber are two that have been mentioned.  Any other barrels that folks have had good luck with and recomend?

I just played this game as well when finishing my grendel. I went with saber and am very very happy!

Thanks everyone.  I decided to go with the Blackhole weaponry barrel.  I'll let everyone know how it goes!

Check out Rainier arms new charging handle.

Rainier Arms Raptor Ambidextrous Charging Handle.

Newly mfg by them and until 10-31 it is $20 off, 69.95.  I just ordered one after many months of them working on the R&D they are finally available.

The ambidextrous part is the sweet part.
