Got a ? about putting my buck in the shows.

It looks like I need to get the drop tine buck to the local shows. My ? is do I take just the rack to the 13 show or do I wait till the mount is done and get it to the 14 show. The problem with the rack is that it wasn't meant to be seen by itself, and I don't want to spend anymore to make it look presentable. What do you guys think?

I think I would wait until the mount was done if it were mine. As impressive as it is I don't think people would get the full effect of just how big it is with just a skull mount, not to mention the fact that it has a nice looking cape.

Tough call I would just love to have that problem.  I would lean towards waiting until it is done, it is an impressive deer that I am sure will look better finished rather than just the cap and antlers on the wall.

Will the velvet survive the travel? I'm assuming they injected it with formaldahyde. Maybe there is a new better way to preserve it...........

I'd wait till it was mounted if it was me, and probably wouldnt travel it at all unless I had a big fancy box trailer to transport it.

Ryan, wait until the mount is done.  If it were a buck not in velvet, then it wouldn't be a big deal in my opinion, but I would be worried about handling the buck in velvet, even though it should be protected.  I would think that it would be slightly better protected when the mount is completed, hangers  to the mount, etc.

Man he's heavy! I can't get used to how heavy a buck this is.
