ROAD HUNTERS!!!
« Reply #165 on: November 22, 2012, 05:57:37 PM »

A person is guilty of unlawful use of a loaded firearm if the person negligently shoots a firearm from, across, or along the maintained portion of a public highway (RCW 77.15.460).
It is unlawful to shoot a bow and arrow from a vehicle or from, across, or along the maintained portion of a public highway. See WAC 232-12-054.
Persons with a disabled hunter permit may shoot from a vehicle if the hunter is in compliance with WAC 232-12-828, Hunting of game birds and animals by persons of disability.
A public highway is one maintained specifically for the use of the public, REGARDLESS OF SURFACE.
Shooting from a private road is legal if access has been granted by the landowner and other firearm restrictions and safety issues have been addressed.

What part of those Law is so confusing?    I've been 20miles back on Logging roads and have seen deer and grouse decoy traps set up by LEOs!  I'm just dumb founded that Anybody thinks its legal? Why are we even having this argument!!!!!

First of all as long as you step off the road before you shoot, you are legal. Second of all if you are on private timber lands you are NOT on publicly maintained roadway. Like was stated before, not everyone can hit it hard.

Someone lock this pointless thread. Nothing but back and forth back and forth bickering...

ya lock it the guys point was for people that glass elk deer etc... I will always stop pull off the road and look at a deer I see. No pvt land owner is going to stop that. I may even look a the sign and see what it actually says and may try to gain permission. IF not I'll drive on, and usually find a spot to hunt. Understandably without permission I can't shoot the deer, and if landowner doesn't want to give permission that's fine. But to tell anyone that they can't glass is just being anal.
ok lock it already

Wait until you have a group of "hunters" park in your driveway to glass deer or elk in your field and leave their trash behind.  Like I said before, I don't have a problem if you are cruising down the county road or stop in the road but when you pull in my driveway you are trespassing and we have enough tweekers breaking into places around here that if you are parked in my posted "private drive" expect to get a visit from me.

I've killed two bucks road hunting.   Both were about as anticlimatic as they come.   The first one is the only set of antlers I don't still have.  I let a dog chew on them.  Second, well lets just say you haven't seen a story or photos of it on here.  Anticlimatic and no story behind it.  A tag gets notched and meat gets eaten,     Should I hang my head for doing it, probably not.  I'd say I have hunted, seen and stalked more bucks than the average Joe on any given year.  It does all eat the same.  Is it novel worthy, most certianly not.  There was MUCH more excitement in my failed hunts.   There are a lot of reasons for someone to road hunt and I won't look down on anyone that does.   I have to admit I have cracked a smile as I have watched rig after rig drive by when I was on the hill.
