some advise please!

Hello all...our early season was cancelled by being called to a church havingg to move to bremerton. My son and I are planning to finish the bow season around lake wynoochee in the national forest...we just got settled and finally have time to try and redeem the rest of the season...it takes a couple hours to get there, so is it a good place to start..or a waste of time? Thanks in advance.

I don't really know a lot about that area, but I do know it's not what it used to be. They don't take very many elk out there anymore.

Definitely many other units I'd go before I'd go there. Just take a look at the 2011 Harvest Report and you'll see what I mean.

I think thats just becuase of the terrain..i dont think alot.of.people hunt it for that reason

Well, being that it's National Forest, there are no clearcuts, and very little feed for elk.

Don't take my word for it though, that's just my impression of it. I haven't been up there for probably 15 years.

Your right on.....theres elk...just gotta work hard for them....if ypu hunt on the westside of the unit youll have more success....more cuts and more feed....if your camping at the dam take the road over to donkey creek....theres state and rainier land that way...easier to hunt...more animals

Talk to the FS.  They might steer you into areas where they have been doing elk projects--thinning trees and planting browse.
