Burbot
« on: January 08, 2013, 10:18:29 AM »
Anybody every caught a Burbot (or fresh water ling) in washington?
I know they are SAPOSED to exsist.... but....
Damned if I've never seen one, let alone caught one.

Any Ideas as to where I might start looking for where and how to catch these weirdo trophies?

I don't know, but I think it would be pretty cool.

What do you guys think?

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

In lake Roosevelt this time of year Hawk creek and the Spokane arm both kick out lots of Burbout.  Use a yellow jig head with an avocado 3" grub tipped with a half of night crawler. Fish along the edges in hawk creek 35-55 fow, in the arm go to buoy 5 and fish the hole on the upside of the point 2-6 ponder and easy limit.

I have caught them on lake chelan last year. We were jigging for lake trout and catch them. They are good eating fish.
