Does hand carving and making your own bow and arrows with rocks as broadheads count?

I have gone modern compound to traditional, and back to compound I have been bowhunting for 27 years.

exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm looking at getting this 4 book series, if I ever get any free time on my hands I'd like to give it a whirl.

I think it'd be a lot more satisfying.

Haven't gone back, but I have never really left either. Got a couple beautiful customs. Just might try to stick a deer with one this year.

About your devolution, you gonna give up your snow machines and going to go back to snow shoes and toboggans? :chuckle:
If we were supposed to be vegetarian God would have made broccoli more fun to shoot!
"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?

Already have, did you miss my snowshoe thread?

Sporting some MSR's, they are very nice snowshoes.  Am I going to make my own snowshoes for hunting?  Probably not, those MSR's are nice  :chuckle:

Does a claw hammer count as primitive?

Had to throw it out there given the question.

He was coming after me.  I think he wanted to make my garage his winter den.  Grouchy little bugger.  The hammer was my closest means of defense.

It would have to be a stone hammer with a carved handle.  :chuckle:

Back when I first got into traditional bow making, I bought that book set and have to say it is worth it for sure! I didnt know anyone who was into that way of hunting and it really helped me get an idea of how to go about every aspect of bow making. There is several chapters in there wrote by St. Charles as well as other people very knowledgeable in the "art". I learned enough from those books that I ended up getting a nice cow elk with a longbow I made myself from a yew tree I cut myself, that used a string I made myself, with arrows I fletched myself.
As GermanShorthair said, it is very rewarding and I agree 100%!

I wanted to just use a big rock from a tree stand, but big rocks are unclassified as a hunting arm so there is no tag available. tic
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

You guys that hunt with a long bow how do you do it. From a tree stand, blind, or do you spot and stalk. I always wondered how you did it with those long buggers.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is who you actually are while your reputation is merely who others think you are.
