Whisker Biscuit modification

roughly 300 or 400 shots through my new bow and I'm getting little waves in my fletchings from my whisker biscuit. I'm thinking of cutting away channels for the fletching. Has anyone ever tried this? if so, how'd it go? Got pics?

I had that same  issue and ruined mine trying to cut it. The issue was that the Fletchings  caught on it sometimes and my accuracy was CRAP. I invested in a Q A D  and will never go back. Best money spent ever in my opinion.

I never have liked the whisker biscuit it always peeled my fletching or made them have the waves like your talking about. Never though about changing it. I would think that if that were a better design then NAP would have already done it.

yeah from what I'm reading online, the results of modifying it are pretty hit or miss. Apparently if you're not very careful, you wind up with a weakened support structure and your arrows will drop through unexpectedly.

There was an article in Bowhunter mag a while back recommending to just refletch your arrows using short 2" tough vanes (like Bohner Blazers or NAP Quick Spins). I might just go that route, cause I do appreciate the full containment and simplicity of the WB.

Whisker bisquits dont really work with anything but a 2" vane well. Kepp in mind if your are using a bisquit you cant use the quick spin vanes or have a helical to them. They need to basically be straight vanes only, or youll just keep tearing them up.

Just refletch with a high quality vane like Bohning, AAE and you will be fine.  We use full helical and have had no issues at all.

Been shooting quick spin vanes for a. Couple seasons now.

I hear ya, and not looking to shoot ya. I think the helical does sound a little far fetched, and will probably try the quick spin since they mount straight

Dura vane makes a 2 inch vane that works really good with the whisker biscut.  I used to have the problem with my vanes starting to weave after 100 shots til I got the dura vane. Have not had a problem since.

I bet you could heat up a small nail and push it through the base of the bristles that are slightly bent after shooting an arrow through.  Then just trim or burn away the ones that are still affected by the fletchings.

ive had the same biscuit for a few years and it has all sorts of messed up bristles but it never seems to affect accuracy.
