Pontiac Ridge
« on: March 21, 2013, 08:39:31 PM »
4 years ago when I purchased a 40ac tract out near pontiac ridge I witnessed from my tree stand a single wolf chase down a whitetail fawn about 30yds away. I was able to view about 80yds of the chase before they went out of site.  Also,  before I purchased the property I was hiking all four corners and started to creep down an old logging rd towards a rotten smell and found a half rotted wolf carcass.  It was a big wolf with a gun shot to the head.  Now I  believe thats a federal offense. I didn't think to say much of it being that I became suspicious of the soon to be new to me north boundary neighbors.  After I purchased the land I came back to visit the site about a week later and there was not a single trace of the carcass....not even any hair or bones.  A neighbor down the road told me that out here on pontiac ridge some have adopted the shoot shovel and no tell law.  I hope karma catches up with whoever committed that crime.  I know wolves may be seen as a nuisance but man alive to see that wolf chase that fawn down was mother nature unspoiled....very beautiful in its own respect.

:puke: :puke:   mother nature unspoiled... Give me a break. If Mother Nature was unspoiled you would not be there spoiling it with your presence. I see nothing beautiful about a wolf eating a fawn alive. At least a cougar kills before eating.

I separated this off the topic where it was originally posted to prevent taking that thread off-topic.

I am wondering if the OP has any photos and where Pontiac Ridge is located?

Unspoiled yet you strapped a stand to a tree. Huh.

Northeast of Bonapart, northeast of Beth and Beaver lakes, .....just west of Toroda creek north of Bodie, if you're curious.

Nature unspoiled? The mine at the top with the paved rd leading up from toroda cr really is pristine and beautiful, not to mention that pontiac ridge is not very unpopulated compared to the surrounding area, not saying a wolf or wolves would not pass through there and pick up a scooby snack on the way, but remain there i kinda doubt.. my bs meter is on high...
MtnMuley what do you think?

They do play some mean banjo music up there though.. :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

"Pontiac Ridge" is an eyesore to me.  Bunch of crazies from all corners is the best I can desrcribe it.  A place I have no desire to ever roam again. :twocents:
