new bow G5 quest primal..
« on: April 10, 2013, 04:51:14 PM »
Got my new bow the other day, got it all set up with peep sight, release loop, whisker biscuit rest. it's rated at 330, so faster than my old bow (290) .. pretty quiet, no vibration to speak of. top pin is 30yds, and at 20 its not more than an inch and a half high.. so far so good. now to get the rest of the sight pins set up, and figure out which broadhead it likes..

Keep an eye on your cables, serving issues at cams.
Also keep an eye on the I-guide shaft for backing out of the tube in the riser.
From experience.
They sure shoot nice when they hold together.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

I love my Primal, but as JJD said the cams fray the serving. Sportsmans Warehouse will fix the serving for free. It would be nice if G-5 would fix the problem and replace the cams since it is a known problem.  :chuckle:

Chief,
I have had good luck with the G5 Montec & Striker.  Both requited minimal tuning with the arrows I'm using.
Another one I've heard needs little messing with is Slick Trick.

Denton at Rock creek says that he has some sevring that should hold up. mine shot better when I took the broom off of it and went with the quad ultra. I'm shooting maxima hunters in a 30 inch draw with 100 grain slick tricks set inline with the string and four fletch blazzers out back they fly like darts at 307fps . @70lbs

7595 is the arrow spine. That's the number gold tip uses for .340 spine.

Should be about the right spine for that wt bow.  Even with a 100 gr broadhead, ya should have plenty of % FOC.

I got it tuned to shoot my broadhead of choice (orig 125 3 bld muzzy) to same point of aim as field points.. I shot an 8" group at 60, 2 broadheads, 2 field points.. works for me.. still love this old broadhead.. 31$ FOR 6.. big holes, tough broadheads..doesnt hurt that I still have a bunch I bought on clearance.. they work out of the recurve as well..
