Kai's first Ruffus Woods Trout on a Three day trip.
« on: April 10, 2013, 11:59:11 PM »
This is last year's trip May 20, 2012 We are getting ready to go again May 4th and 5th.

We setup camp and just had time to scout for the ramp on Ruffus Woods. I found the ramp and we just had time for a couple of hours of fishing. I launched the boat and we were off. I grabbed the fly rods and went to rig up.  :yike: I forgot the tackle boxes.  :chuckle: Oh well I still had a white leach on one rod and a pink squid I tied for pink salmon on the other one. We started fishing about 1/2 mile down river. I trolled the fly's close to the banks and big over hanging rocks. I rounded a rock and as the fly circled to faster moving waters. The drag went off. FISH-ON. I set the hook and kept the line tight for Kailani. I gave the pole to her. I said let the fish run and keep the rod up. She did great we netted the Rainbow. They loved the pink squid. She had landed one and lost 2. I had just one hit on the white leach and missed. We headed back the camp to clean the fish and have dinner. The next day we driving the boat down to the nets and no luck there. So we headed back up and started trolling fly up river again. We landed 6 fish by noon. We kept are 4 fish and headed out to try banks. No luck there expert a small yellow perch. On sunday we headed out to Ruffus Woods again for the last day. Kai and I repeated trolling fly's and limited again fast. We had to leave to go home. Me are going to be up there again May 4th to fish Dry falls and make a morning run up to Ruffus Woods. Hope we have the same luck. I included some picture of last year trip. The first pic is are first fish,2nd pic is her killing my fish(Crazy Kid) and the other one is are fish from the 2nd day. The next one is are last days limit.
