Hunting success with my brother!
« on: October 08, 2008, 08:54:51 PM »
A couple weeks ago, I took a hike up into the Cascades to a spot that I'd seen bear around, and looked like a perfect spot on the map.  Sure enough, there was bear sign everywhere, and I saw 3 bear in about 1/2 hour of being up in the area.  So last week I took my brother, and a couple of my friends up to the area.  When we got up there, i gave my brother my rifle, and i took the range finder.  It didn't take long to find a nice little bear eatting huckleberries up on the hillside.  We had time to set up, range it, and my brother made a great shot at a little over 200 yards.  :IBCOOL: This is his first big game kill, so it was great to let him get a bear, and to be with him.  (he's been in the Marines for 4 years, so hasn't been able to hunt, well, not this kind of hunting anyway ;) )   We spent the rest of the afternoon, skinning, and quartering, and hiking out about 3 miles.  It was a great day, and a good hunt.  I'd like to get up there again to get a bear myself, but i looks like the snow may keep me from getting back up there.  Even if i don't, the'll be there next year.

Bear hunting is a gas. They are my favorite animal to hunt so far, though the moose hunt was mighty hard to beat. Thanks for taking your brother out and thanks to him for his service to our country. bc
