I'm heading to the Tucannon River this weekend with my boys and was hoping to catch a few with my boys.  Do you just pick up rocks and grab them before they get away?  Do their pinchers hurt?  I have memories of doing it when I was really young, but too young to remember much.  Thanks.

 I would get a crawdad pot/trap and put a chicken wing/breast in it and let it soak for a few hrs or half day..  or ya look under rocks.. we use crawdads pots...

We pulled 4-5 Gallons in about three hours this weekend on the *Censored* river.  There were some hogs in the bunch.

Yeah, I was trying to post them yesterday, but the site was having issues.  Ill get them posted as soon as the site gets fixed.

I was trying to post up my pics from Yesterdays catch but wouldnt let me either...  :dunno:..   I only had 12 in my string yesterday but a few dandies..

We tried the chicken vs fish theory. Fish, on average, doubled the production of the chicken.  We had to pull the trap with fish in it every 45 minutes because it was getting full.

Did you have your bait in bait containers?  How many were you getting a pot?  Did you make like a chum?  I have done that and it worked good..

No we just threw some freezer burnt filet's in the back of the trap.  Our best was 35 and next was 20, the best we got with chicken was 10, they were however in different locations on the river so take it how you want.

35  :yike:..  Thats a hell of a pull, my best has been 15 in one pot, but i havent been down on the river your at...   Did you guys get some jumbo's?

And to the other guy, we havent had much success with fast moving water, we have done the best with slow current with rocky bottoms..  :twocents:

We did far better in slower water with lots of cover, mostly logs and overhanging brush. The pots we tried in faster water kept coming up with fish trapped in them but no bugs.

There wasn't any room left in the pot!  There were hangers on the outside as well, pretty crazy for our first attempt at new water.
