I don't know what kind of time frame you have been working with Ice. Maybe this delay is a good thing. It least from where I sit it seems kind of like sudden and over night news. My dad had the same thing you have. I took him to chemo and radiation for 5 months prior to the surgery. The surgery was a last resort if the chemo and radiation failed. I took him to the cancer treatment center there in Spokane.

Holy crap Iceman, this is the first I've seen of this thread. I don't know you personally but you've been a staple on here ever since I joined. I feel like I was punched in the gut! This does feel like family too me. I wish you all the best and I will pray for you and your family. You seem pretty tough so I'm sure you will win this battle. God Speed my brother.

Iceman, ........... Good luck. In 2005 myself and two co-workers were diagnosed with cancer. Myself, pancreas cancer my buddy Rodger, Throat cancer and Deloy had cancer thru out his entire body. I was out of work for 3 months, minus half my pancreas, my spleen and a foot or so of intestines. Rodger was out a year and came back minus his voice and has to feed himself with a syringe in a fitting in his stomach. Deloy died. Rodger is retiring July 31. Cancer is a life changer. I was supposed to die and I've been working 10 hours a day since I came back to work 8 years ago, now. I have faith in you, your a smart, tough guy. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and pretty soon your thru the worst of it. If theres anything I can do PM me.

Thank you Hermit, and thank you all.
I finally get my surgery on Monday morning at 7am. I will be eating well today and tomorrow, as Sunday will be spent "evacuating my intestines" in prep for Monday surgery. (Doesn't that sound fun..?)
Anyone here have expercience with 10oz of Manesium Citrate? I may very well be an expert on it Sunday afternoon/evening...

Ice, get that Magnesium stuff COLD. Just above freezing. Put it in the freezer a hour before you drink it. And remember your pain button........ They'll have a little switch that hangs from your shoulder so you can control your own pain medication. Keep up on it. It's not so bad if you keep up on it but once the pain gets on top of you it's real hard to get it back in control......I never did have much pain but this nurse kept walking by saying " Hit your pain button, dear". Ya get better pretty quick once your out of the hospitial and can force yourself to start eating.

Just be careful with bread and meat when you're back to eating, those can be difficult to swallow! Lol, stay away from PB&J sandwiches too. Tied eating one when I was doing a 24-hour ph test (tube down throat) and it got caught, about choked me.
I'm thinking of you. I hope the temporary post-surgery dietary restrictions are the worst part of it for you! At least you don't have a bunch of holidays to contend with (my reflux surgery was the Monday before thanksgiving. Was in hospital drinking through a straw on thanksgiving, unable to eat solids for my birthday, and barely able to eat solids by Christmas).
You helped me with my hip surgery, let me know if you need anything with this...
