So ill be going to Alder for the first time this weekend. Ive pretty much have only done the rainbow trout thing in fresh water by either trolling or power bait. What are my chances of catching anything in Alder if that is what i stick with? Pretty sure we will just be fishing from shore at a rental house. Might have to get the boat from dad. Not sure yet.

Thanks for the help.

I was at Alder a few weekends ago, didn't see much going on.

I have used power bait and never caught anything, but that is me, my luck with power bait is not good when I am fishing by myself.  :dunno:

Plenty of fish in Alder Lake, just need to find what works for that particular day. I have seen people using worms, corn, and power bait.

The best luck I have ever had with trout or kokes is a kastmaster with a little power bait.

When trolling I would use a wedding ring. Not sure what kind but lots of people use it effectively when trolling.

I have caught catfish, perch, bluegill, kokes, and trout and usually catch something every time I go out. Next time we go, I will be trolling for a little nit for trout or kokes and then bottom fishing for cats.

Good luck and have fun.

one more thing, if you are in a boat, make sure to keep an eye out for floating branches or logs. If you are fishing close to shore, be careful of submerged stumps.

Stay safe and have fun.

If you do catch anything, report back, I would like to see how it worked out for you.

If you have a boat, almost any pop gear will work for kokanee.

My go to rig is a 1 oz banana sinker followed by 24 inch leader to a UV Flasher with snubber on the lure side, 12 - 24 inch leader to a red double whammy with gamakatsu hooks. Put two pink Gulp Maggots on the top hook and two kernels of white shoe peg corn on the lower hook. Troll between 0.5 and 1.5 mph in "S" pattern.

The limit at Alder is 10 Kokanee each, we limit more often then not.
