when are muskrat worth trapping?

im new to trapping and i want to start with muskrat but i dont know when i should start trapping them? so the fur is good

Around thanksgiving to start through the middle of Feb. That is when you will start seeing rubs bites and spots on the skin side of you hides.

I wouldn't Wait until thanksgiving trapping eastern wa rats, I've been froze out by then in years past. I prefer open water trapping. Guys are trapping rats right now and those rats will sell. Granted not fully prime but they will sell as fall rats. Choice is yours a lot of variables involved, weather, do you have time now and not later, do you like chopping ice etc.

Yeah, consolini is over here right now hitting my spots for rats. but I got lots of others.......

Christmas is better for them, but then they are prime into late march.
