Cougar Harvested in 121
« on: September 08, 2013, 04:21:11 AM »
This is my brothers first cougar it was 7' and 140LB Tom. He was driving down a logging road when a moose calf ran in front of him. He stopped his truck got out and saw it running off then saw the cat in pursuit of it. He was able to get to his rifle quickly and get a shot off  :mgun2:. He connected and chased it a few hundred yards and shot twice more putting the cat down for good. The moose calf was not attacked  Needless to say I am very happy to see my kid bro harvest a trophy like this.... and jealous  ;)  Happy hunting!

Cool. I've seen 15 cats in 12 years, all when I was driving my chip truck. I still haven't connected. I'm very jealous......

If you're gonna have it stuffed, have the taxidermist on Oak in Colville do it. He's slow, but does great work. He's done a Bobcat for me and it looks real. Most taxidermists can't do cats so they look good.

Great trophy!! Awesome story. And save a moose calf to boot.  I think the calf got a serious education hopefully for any predator.

WOW wonder if it was the same one? I was hunting a area and heard a moose making all sorts of noise, as I crept up there I saw something move on the hillside, another couple steps and I see that it is a cougar! Followed by a calf moose! I tried to turn my lidcam on to capture this because its all happeing 50 yards away, dam thing wont turn on, more than likely from all the gallons of sweat from the last ten days of hunting. Moose chased the cat for about ten yards then stopped and they had a face off with one advancing then the other. Moose ran down the hill with the cat right behind it and right to me now about 40 yards away! I start moving my arms around trying to let the moose see me so it dosent bring the cat right into my lap while my bow is on my backpack and the one and only day I didn't have my sidearm. Moose sees me and stands there till the wind shifts and then it smelled me and ran twords the road!! Never seen the cat leave, I continued up the road and watched more behind me than in front of me, On the way back down I rode the bike with the bow in my hand at around 30 mph down the hill!! Was super cool to see and I was thinking I saved that moose calf. There was a cow moose with the calf also. Now that I think about it while I was there I was hearing a rig down on the road and was kinda worried about my truck and all the gear that was in it from previous days of hunting.  Wonder if it was all connected?
