2013 Rosie double
« on: September 17, 2013, 01:44:06 PM »
My brother and I were blessed with a couple decent bulls this year. Opening day we heard a bugle in the timber down below us. We got in closer and I fired off a bugle then started cow calling as we moved toward the herd. We could hear the herd bull pushing his cows away from us up the ridge but two satellites stayed back to check out the elk coming to them. We were able to get in close enough for my brother to get a perfect heart shot on his bull. The other one did not present a shot for me. We went into the same general area a few days later. The next ridge over from us in the timber we could hear elk coming up the hill. The bull starts pushing his cows up the hill away from us,then all of a sudden here come the cows right above me at 25 yrds. I get ready as they are filing through. The bull bugled just before he appears and when he does my brother cow called to stop him. He stops perfect and I was able to seal the deal.

We have been lucky enough to double out the last three years in a row now. Hoping we can keep it up.
