I've looked over the posts and comments, and after seeing the picture it's definitely an inch...what i didn't like was the fact it seemed like maybe the buck only gave CRUZER one good look before he actually shot and the only thing he noticed was big tines? After that he says he started up the hill and came to a clearing where he said he only had a head and neck shot....and then he shot. I think what really happened was the buck looked at him real quick, he glassed him, saw he was a nice thick rack. Assumed he would have eye guards or maybe didn't even notice that he wasn't even a 3. The buck then started up the hill and the first available shot he took. I'm just glad this buck was a legal buck.

Congrats CRUZER nice 2pt...it'll put meat in the freezer

edit:i know at 150 yds though with only a head and neck shot...i'm letting this buck walk right into next season.
Wrong! I took a very long look through my binos, I posted a quick story of the hunt, the buck had stopped and was starring down at where the doe ran for awhile, I had time to check him out twice real good, I even had time to get out of the quad go to the front an unzipped the protective bag around the rifle, loaded and then even with my Leopold on 9x I can see both tines, like I said one tine I was assuming close to an inch the other one was taller and I just knew it was over an inch. The bucky my friends is a legal 3x3 in Wa. State. :IBCOOL:

When you trust your optics, your rifle, and have lots of practice at the range, a 150yd neck shot is a piece of cake. The one I posted a picture of was taken at 128yds, as confirmed by range finder. I had plenty of time (glassed him for over 20min) to make the decision. He was bedded down behind some downfalls. The only clean shot I had was a neck shot.  I have passed up shots on many nice 4pts due to the fact I did not have a clear shot, trees, etc.

Here is a pic of the exit wound.

That's what I'm talking about, Nice Shot!! ;)

NICE BUCKS and Congrats on a successful season.  It's too bad your getting bombarded by the TWO POINT POLICE on here.  You'll really have to worry when they all show up at your door with their Hunt-washington hats on and tape measures in hand. :chuckle:
Heck! send them this way, I'll even give them some Jerky to taste :EAT: :police: ;)

Nice buck Cruzer. I did the same thing 3 years ago. Watched him for awhile to be sure he had an eye guard that was long enough, then whacked him.

Nice work Cruzer!  Love the touche' with the 1,000 yard photos...

I generally like the results of our 3 pt. min, but one negative is that it results in a lot of mature 2 points.  Strikes me we covered this topic last winter when 300 was looking for his buck and there were several pics of monster forkies.  Good to take some of them out when you can confirm the 1" eyeguard.

thats a hell of a buck cruzer. in our area things are getting worse every year with real old mature 2 points. its getting to the point where there isn't anything bigger than a 2 point. so any buck like that i give you props for.

A game warden who happened to have a wildlife biologist with him that day, stopped and checked my buck after it was hanging. They both agreed that this deer would of been a 2pt for the rest of his life. They took a tooth and some other samples. I heard back from them about 2mos later. The tests confirmed the deer was about 4½ years old.
