The no story buck...
« on: October 15, 2013, 07:15:33 PM »
There really isn't much of a story.  My son and I started out at first light hunting up an old overgrown road, as we were going up I kept looking back into a bench that is hidden except for a short distance on the old road.  As I turned around to look into the bench/bowl I couldn't believe my eyes.  He was over 500 yards away, so we went down the road, and up an old cow trail up onto the side of the bench, thankfully we found the cow trail because it was wide enough to walk on without making much noise.  Came around the corner checking carefully every few steps, and there he was, still standing right where he was when we spotted him.  About a 100 yard shot from the tikka, and it was lights out for this dude!  Glad my son was there to see it, and thankful for a great buck.  Then the work started...
