Hi, I'm 19 and am going to trap for the first time this year. I've saved up a couple hundred bucks and am looking into getting some muskrat traps, since they're easy to catch and put up. It'll be my first year trapping so I'm looking for some swim-through traps which are fairly inexpensive and easy to use. I'm willing to travel to the west side to pick them up, any help would be appreciated. I'm located in ellensburg, you can private message me on here or post a response, listing what your prices are and how many you're willing to part with. Any traps for other animals that are reasonably priced ill also be interested in(besides beaver traps) . There's a lot of people on this forum so hopefully someone will be able to help. Thanks for looking

not to tell a man his business and i wish i could remember the website but some of the swim throughs are simple to build and you could spend your money on bigger ones to target cats, froget about live trappn a coyote, but bobs are pretty easy well easier than a damn yote. but beaver and muskrat traps will be easy for you to make  good luck, we look forward to pics

CWbobcathunter,

Welcome to trapping and the trapping forum. That couple hundred bucks would go a long ways towards some colony traps. Easy to make and with the price of rats (last year anyway) you could do pretty good. Research you tube on how to build them, buy some wire and j-clips and in no time you could have a dozen colony traps.

Muskrat are real easy to put up and don't take fancy fleshing tools or boards but don't forget your going to need some stretchers! I like the sleepy creeks and they are not too bad on the pocket book.

If you are ever in the Tri-Cities let me know and I will show you how to make them.

Be happy to help!

Why don't you call Ted Cantrell (509)930-0377. He is a supply dealer down in the Yakima area. Talk to him and see what he has. Once you get a few traps you might want to make your own but you'l at least get a look at some. Also you might talk to Kip Smith on here he is pnwmtwmn. I don't know if he has anything to sell but he could show you some stuff.

I have some ready for sale now. My ph is (509)750-6719. I can drop them off Sat on my way to Yakima.
If nothing else you can use them for a pattern like I did, or come up with you own designs.

That rolled up copper on top of your trap,  I assume that's your trapper ID tag?

It's OK to roll it up like that?

I was tagging my traps but didn't think to roll it up just wanted to make sure seems it would stay on a lot better than a hog ring and letting it flop around.

George Brady is a trapping supply dealer/ fur buyer in Pateros. You could likely find some used items at a better price than new.
