Peaches Bull Tag - Words of wisdom
« on: October 23, 2013, 11:46:11 PM »
What a fun time of the year! This is such a fun website and neat to read all of the stories and hunting updates. I know this is a complete shot in the dark but my Mom got drawn for a modern Peaches Ridge Any bull tag. She had 9 points and we were still shocked that she got drawn. They scouted earlier in the season and saw some animals but so far have only seen 3 cows. Dad is handicapped with knee replacement but they are going after it as hard as they can both are in their mid 60s. I am a school teacher so it is hard to get out of school but will head over Friday to join them with my two boys and take a few days to try to help out. Wondering if anyone has any other words of wisdom for that area.
Today they hunted hard in Stampede Pass area. I don't at all expect anyone to take them by the hand but  just wondering if anyone could pm any other helpful advice. If all else fails what a fun opportunity and that is why they call it hunting! Both are just so happy to get out and give it a go but I would love to see Mom get a shot as she has been practicing and is ready.
Sure appreciate any help and wish you all the best on your hunts!
Thanks

I wish I could help, but I don't know that area.  I wish her well and that you get some advice or help.

A buddy of mine told me yesterday about a 6 point on the lower power lines on Stampede. Good luck to your mom

336 and 346 is peaches
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Tell your parents to glass the reprod hard, especially the shady parts, starting around 3 pm. The little guys can be found with the cows. This is when I have been seeing the most elk. The big boys are not coming out till after dark! I did have a missed opportunity on Monday at a 5x5 that was with a spike, just could not get set up in a good spot before they hit tbe reprod. They were also just walking the road in behind a locked gate.

I would suggest they try the Naches side of the unit. More country to hunt, more roads, and possibly a little easier terrain for someone with a bad knee. It will get a lot tougher tomorrow with the general season starting though. So they may be better off sticking to the area they already know.
