I hate to tell you, there is alot more of that same country in Idaho.  The only difference will be that you will have to hunt elk, muledeer and whitetails in it. :)   Thats not such a bad thing, except it takes a bit getting used to being within 30 yards or 30 feet of animals and not being able to see them.  Heck, you might even take up bowhunting.

I archery hunted for deer/elk the last two years (didn't really do elk except for my '07 Peaches Tag but didn't score) and went back to modern this year so we could do the high hunt... I missed archery this year!  Especially because my thanksgiving break falls right into the late archery swakane hunt!!!!   :bash:

Planning on going archery big bull here in Idaho, and muley hunting from the 10-10 to 11-4 about 3 hours from here...  Got some great areas lined up and I'm buying my lifetime hunting license...

I tell you I might be working for the USFS up out of Winthrop this summer???  Dealing with their 20 grazing allottments and riparian area management as well...  Really hope it works out!

The buck on page 7 is a tough call. Reason being with the evident higher winter kill from last winter. On a normal year following a few mild winters I would say to pass on him as i know that there are some monsters out there. But I also know Bone has been putting in alot of effort and hasn't seen the Real big mossyhorns. But also you have to remember he has seen some huge tracks and just missed seeing them along with the fact he got a glimpse of one alot bigger going over the ridge. That Alta tag is one of the top tags in the state but you have to know the area. I have seen some absolute monsters there but that has been over the years.

:chuckle:   Thats damn funny jdb.  Thanks for letting me blow coke out my nose on that one.  Eyes are still burning.  Sorry guys.  A long day on the mountain today.  You guys are going to be pissed about no pics.  I saw 15 does and 4 bucks, one slightly bigger than page 7 but he wouldn't let me close the deal with the bow, so maybe tomorrow.  Fog was in and out.  Always when I needed to see something I think.   The mountain deer are showing up.   Here was an interesting Bone observation.  All of the local deer are with fawns, or at least most of them, but all the mountain does I saw today were in singles.  I wonder what that means.  More predators up high and all the fawns got nailed.  They got seperated in the migration....I hadn't noticed that before.

Where is he Passion, I'll go take his picture when I am done tomorrow.
I am one tired son of a gun tonight.  Dawn til dark..go go go.  Sky is right, this is or normally would be a premier hunt.  Its slim this year but by God I am going to make the best of this tag even if I have to eat it plain.  What do I have, 8 more days or so with a daughters birthday...mayb eto morrow if I can walk.

I might if he was standing at 20 yards and I had my bow in my hand, but I'd rather not.  His frame is great with great points, but I am after moss, mass and just plain old.  I want to knock off an oldtimer.  That thing needs some age.  Vek really summed it up the other night.  I am after one of those bucks you can't chew.  I am hearing of lots hitting the ground. I think all the ALta guys are starting to follow me around. LOL  I am having trouble deciding what to do in the morning.   I found more deer sign or does than I have anywhere.  Mountain deer.  I wonder if I should go back, or go back to where that monster was.   NOT SURE.  THis is the part I hate.  Too many ridges to check out.  I need to shoot one so I can go photograph some of these other units.
